I just love Upoc idea. I think it is great and excellent service. As I read in “SMART MOBS” the service helped a lot of people during the 9-11 attack by sending fast messages to subscribers.
In my country, soccer is very big thing. Last year. The soccer clubs their provided similar service. You subscribe to your team channel by sending a text message to a phone number and you pay them with your cell phone’s bill. They send to you the club news and live result and whatever the managements is planning to do. This service becomes very popular that almost every one who like soccer subscribe in one or more channels. The idea is to get the latest news and also to support your favorite club since the club will get a portion of the money.
I think this services would grow really fast since most people do not have that much time to watch TV or to read the news paper.

As you brought out, the concept and technology seems to tremendously affect how we enjoy sports. In the past, all we could do was to go to a stadium in person or to watch a game on TV. But now, we can get text broadcasting through websites and even with our cell phones.
What is further is that we can talk about the game with other watchers on live!!

Secondly, this technology allows people to do what they love while on the go. This seems American to me, but I suppose a lot of people live a fast paced life. For instance, the invention of the BlackBerry, allowing a person to immediately answer an email from the most awkward place (for humor's sake, let's say the bathroom). Technology is very good for bringing what is most important to you via a screen.

I this made sports more intresting. Sometimes I read forums for some teams fans and I really enjoy them. Sometimes I participate by posting in these forums about what I think of the team and the players.

It is really great to check the email throught your cellphone( although I do not do it especially in the bathroom). It is great if your out twon and awaiting for an important email.
Actually, the service is very old. I think treo where the first company to made a companition of Palms and cellphones. I think i-mate now is in the lead
